Her beautiful and meaningful breastmilk art allows mothers to keep a special part of their parenting journey with them forever. Here Gina talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the inspiration behind Gina Jones Creations, the challenges she has overcome along the way, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired me to set up my business?
Leaving behind my 20-year career in the ICT industry due to workplace bullying was a pivotal moment in my life. It led me to discover the healing power of art as a form of self-therapy. Amidst the depths of my struggles, I found solace within the strokes of a paintbrush, awakening a hidden artistic ability I never knew existed. The realisation that art could serve as a catalyst for personal growth and emotional well-being ignited a passionate fire within me. It was during this transformative period that Gina Jones Creations was born.

The launch: How did I start out in the beginning?
The inception of Gina Jones Creations was further developed during my stay in a mental health hospital. It was within the confines of that environment that I embarked on my artistic journey. The first painting that adorned the wall of my room was a testament to the profound impact of my breastmilk art. It symbolised the resilience and determination that had sustained my breastfeeding journey, despite the challenges I faced. The initial inspiration and support came from my 1-year-old daughter, who, despite the limited contact of seeing her only once a week, became the driving force behind my commitment to preserving the breastfeeding bond through art.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for me with my business?
The breakthrough moment for Gina Jones Creations came with the innovative fusion of art and motherhood through the creation of breastmilk portrait paintings. As a breastfeeding mother myself, I recognised the immense importance of the breastfeeding journey and the emotional connection it fosters between mother and child. The world’s first breastmilk portrait paintings emerged as a unique and special way for mothers to commemorate this intimate experience. Each artwork became a tangible and lasting symbol of the unbreakable bond formed during breastfeeding.

Yin and Yang: How do I balance work and family?
Balancing the demands of running my business and nurturing my family has been a continuous endeavour. My daughter remains my biggest fan and supporter, and her presence in my life is a constant reminder of the importance of both my artistic pursuits and my role as a mother. Through setting boundaries, establishing routines, and practising self-care, I strive to create a harmonious equilibrium between my work and family life. Quality time with my daughter and the preservation of our breastfeeding journey are cherished priorities that guide my balancing act.
